About the Department of Health Sciences

The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences is home to over 100 faculty members, 4000 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in five departments: Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Nursing, Recreation & Leisure Studies, and Sport Management.

The Department of Health Sciences is a multidisciplinary community of scholars whose interests range from bench to population-based disciplines that are characterized as innovative, influential, and on-trend with vital health issues. Integrating biomedical, social science, and humanities perspectives in research and teaching, this department provides students with an inspired, comprehensive understanding of health. We serve approximately 1,200 undergraduate students in four programs: Bachelor of Public Health (with a co-op option), Bachelor of Child Health, Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences, and Bachelor of Arts in Community Health as well as over 100 graduate students across various research and course-based programs including in our exclusively-online, 1-year Master of Public Health (MPH). The Department is strongly committed to experiential learning through teaching, practicum opportunities, dry and wet lab experiences, and involvement in faculty research projects. About the Position

The Department of Health Sciences at Brock University, St. Catharines, Ontario invites applications for a 3-year Instructional Limited Term Appointment (ILTA) position at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2024. 

We are seeking an outstanding public health specialist and educator who is committed to undergraduate and graduate level teaching in Health Information Management. The successful candidate will be able to bridge their knowledge in public health and healthcare information practices with course content delivered through the MPH and other undergraduate and research-based graduate programs. The successful candidate will teach eight (8) half credit courses predominantly in the MPH program with the potential to instruct in other programs. Qualifications for the position may include: 

  • PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, or related discipline in health information management
  • Significant governmental (e.g., federal, provincial, or regional level) experience in health information management, highlighting years of experience and nature of involvement
  • Knowledge of fundamental standards required of a certified Canadian Health Information Professional. Canadian Health Information Management Association certification would be an asset.
  • Experience in developing course content for university-level instruction
  • Demonstrated effective on-campus and online asynchronous undergraduate and graduate teaching
