Assistant Professor

The Department of Architecture & Built Environment at the University of Nottingham is seeking an Assistant Professor within the field of architectural humanities. Applicants should have an established or growing track record of research in the field of architectural humanities as well as teaching experience within the discipline. Your research interests should align with the historical and cultural processes and practices of architecture and we are especially keen to hear from candidates who have undertaken research in museums and architectural exhibitions, as well as new and emerging areas of humanities research in architecture including but not limited to: the history and theory of architecture across the Global South; post-colonial history and theory; interdisciplinary perspectives on sustainability and the philosophy of technology.

You will join an established group responsible for the delivery of the Department’s architectural humanities teaching and curriculum development for our accredited architecture programmes and specialist post graduate programmes. You will use your knowledge and experience to deliver teaching that provides a best-in-class learning experience to develop and inspire the next generation of architects and built environment professionals. The Department is currently ranked top 10 in the UK for Architecture (Guardian and Complete University guides) and top 3 by the AJ Top 100 practices. You will be joining a highly multidisciplinary and diverse environment where collaboration between staff, students and external colleagues is key to the successful delivery of our curriculum.

This role is available on a permanent basis. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.
