Offer Description

Key fields of work: The emission calculation for mathematical modelling of substance transport and transformation in the air, as outlined in Article 88(5) of the Environmental Protection Law dated 27 April 2001, includes:

a) conducting tasks associated with maintaining a comprehensive database of surface, linear, and point emissions,

b) formulating methodologies to calculate the scale of emissions for the aforementioned purposes.

Skills/Qualifications

  • At least a Ph.D. degree in the field of technical/engineering studies or nature science;
  • Predispositions to scientific work as well as knowledge and experience in air protection fields, especially regarding air pollutants emissions from anthropogenic sources;
  • Experience in mathematical modelling of air pollutant transport and transformations and knowledge of emission data’s criteria to feed into the model.
  • Documented scientific achievements in the scope mentioned above;
  • Experience in conducting scientific research, documented by participation in research projects;
  • Qualifications and experience in conducting analyses on big data sets;
  • At least 5-years work experience in an institution active in the field of environmental protection;
  • Fluent English (C1/C2 level);
  • Proficient in programming with Python and R within a Linux environment;
  • Good knowledge of LateX, GIS, e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, and MS Office;
  •  Full public rights.

    Eligibility criteria

    Required documents:

  • CV and motivation letter justifying the application;
  • Filled-in form concerning application for the post of assistant professor (the form is available on the internet website www.ios.edu.pl );
  • A copy of the diploma certifying the scientific degree;
  • Document certifying qualifications and a 5-year work experience in an institution active in the field of environmental protection;
  • Candidate’s Autopresentation, in which he/she describes his/her achievements, knowledge, and capabilities as well as how he/she plans to apply them at the work on the post concerned;
  • Statement that IOŚ-PIB will be the main employer (in case of winning the competition);
  • Statement on no criminal record for a crime prosecuted by public prosecution or a fiscal offense;
  • Statement on the absence of violations of ethics in science, in particular in matters referred to in art. 56.3 of the Act on Research Institutes;
  • Statements on the full use of public rights.

    • In case of submitting documents in a foreign language, a translation into Polish certified by a sworn translator shall be included in the application.

    CV, motivation letter and autopresentation may be provided in English only.

    Applications shall be delivered by 05.04.2024 to the secretariat of Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute in Warsaw or send by post to the address: Instytut Ochrony Środowiska-Państwowy Instytut Badawczy, Warszawa 02-170, ul. Słowicza 32 (in case of parcel post, the postal stamp date is decisive).
