Job Description

The College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP) at the University of Florida (UF) invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in the M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management. The position is available from August 15, 2023.

We seek applications from intellectually rigorous and passionate scholars whose research focus is among the following: productivity and production management, decision support systems and risk analysis, project finance, innovative project delivery systems and alternative contracting methods, or contract law and dispute management. The successful candidate will excel at teaching courses within core project management competency areas, including estimating, scheduling, and contracts. We expect a demonstrated interest in using research to improve project delivery and advance construction management practices. Candidates must have construction project management and/or field supervisory experience in the construction industry in the United States.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the potential to attract nationally competitive research grants, engage in multi-disciplinary research, and be motivated to collaborate with other faculty across the College of Design, Construction and Planning and within other colleges at the University of Florida. The successful faculty candidate will be expected to develop funded research programs, publish in peer-reviewed journals, supervise graduate student research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and provide service to the University, the community, and the profession.

The M.E. Rinker, Sr. School of Construction Management

Established in 1935, Rinker School is the oldest continuing building construction program in the country. The Rinker School has nearly 8,000 graduates, over 320 upper-division undergraduate students, around 75 Master’s students, and nearly 50 Ph.D. students. The Rinker School has 29 full-time faculty members and 11 support staff. Our vibrant faculty are nationally and internationally recognized, consistently attracting a significant amount of research funding every year.

Terminal degree – Ph.D. in construction management, building construction, civil engineering, architectural engineering, or closely related fields.

• Project management and/or field supervisory experience in the construction industry in the United States.
• University-level teaching experience in the core project management competency areas.
