Pediatric Optometry at Children’s Wisconsin
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) is actively recruiting a pediatric optometrist to join our ophthalmology team. We are seeking a residency trained pediatric optometrist to join 5 pediatric ophthalmologists, 2 pediatric optometrists and 7 orthoptists. The position entails clinical activity at one or more of our satellite clinics along with educating our pediatric optometry resident. Our team of experts readily collaborates to offer children premier, comprehensive pediatric ophthalmologic, optometric and orthoptic care. Our Pediatric eye team treats more than 15,000 children each year.
Our specialists have the most pediatric eye care experience in the region and are actively involved in clinical research studies, including national studies funded by the National Institutes of Health. Our research projects include retinopathy of prematurity, telemedicine, quality improvement projects and imaging in conjunction with the Advanced Ocular Imaging Program at the Eye Institute. We serve as a residency training hospital and clinic educating 4 ophthalmology residents per year. Children’s Specialty Group is the pediatric specialty group established in 2000 as a joint venture between Children’s Wisconsin and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Children’s Specialty Group provides a critical link between the integrated health care delivery network of Children’s Hospital and the commitment to excellence in medical research and education of MCW. Children’s Specialty Group membership includes more than 360 pediatric specialists, 130 pediatric advanced practice nurses and 40 physician assistants. All physicians have faculty appointments with MCW.
Children’s Wisconsin
Children’s Wisconsin is a 306-bed freestanding hospital dedicated solely to the care of children. Children’s is part of the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center Campus, along with the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Hospital. It is a major teaching affiliate of MCW and is associated with several schools of nursing. It is a Level 1 Trauma Center and houses 13 inpatient units including a 72-bed pediatric intensive care unit and a 70-bed Level IV neonatal intensive care unit.
