University of Wroclaw invites applications for the position of assistant professor at the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy  at the Institute of Theoretical Physics in the Applied Computer Science and Statistical Physics Group

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. degree in physical sciences.
  • Scientific achievements (publications) in computational physics and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Experience with OpenFOAM, LBM (Palabos) or Fluent software.
  • Knowledge of the Lattice Boltzmann Method and Finite Volume Methods.
  • Knowledge of numerical methods for solving differential equations.
  • Programming skills and ability to perform calculations (CFD simulations) in C++, Python or similar language.
  • Leadership or participation in research projects.
  • Experience in giving talks at international forums (conferences, workshops).
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Primary responsibilities:

  • Conducting research, preparing and analyzing results, attending scientific meetings, preparing scientific publications, actively participating in scientific conferences and seminars, performing tasks set in the research grant, collaborating with other participants in the research grant including support for groups working with non-grid methods.
  • We offer:

  • Computer equipment needed to conduct the project.
  • Scientific guidance in the project.
  • Scientific collaboration within the group.
  • Covering of the conferences cost (depend on results).

  • A photocopy of the diploma confirming obtaining the academic degree of doctor.

  • Declaration of the discipline in which the candidate will conduct research, and in the case of people conducting research in more than one discipline, the percentage of their involvement in each of these disciplines (https://hr.uwr.edu.pl/wp-content/uploads/sites/158/2022/05/Scientific-discipline-declaration-UWr_eng.pdf ).
  • Self-presentation (information about scientific, organizational, and other achievements).
  • List scientific publications in the last ten years.
  • Electronic versions of the two most important publications that the candidate considers representative of his or her scientific achievements, or an explanation of the lack of them, provided that the Chairman of the Committee may expect all or selected scientific publications or other documents to be submitted.
  • Two recommendation letters sent by well known specialists in the area of heavy ion physics, provided that these letters are sent by e-mail to the Chairman of the Competition Committee at maciej.matyka@uwr.edu.pl , without the candidate’s mediation and are open only to members of the Committee, and the candidate, by entering the competition, waives the right to access these lists.
  • An application for employment addressed to the Rector of University of Wroclaw.
