The department’s actuarial program is a Center of Actuarial Excellence, designated by the Society of Actuaries. We currently have over 100 undergraduate students and about a dozen M.S. and Ph.D. students preparing for actuarial careers. Our graduates find stimulating employment with local and national insurance companies and consulting firms. We currently have four full-time faculty members supporting the program. Job Summary The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track ASSISTANT PROFESSOR beginning in Fall 2023. The department is seeking an outstanding candidate with a PhD in actuarial science, statistics, mathematics or a related area with research expertise in actuarial science.
Minimum Qualifications Applicant Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in actuarial science, statistics, or related field by August 2023
  • Actuarial credentials from SOA/CAS, or be close to attaining credentials
  • Research specialization in actuarial science
  • Preferred Qualifications Applicant Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated potential for high scholarly productivity
  • Demonstrated strong teaching ability
  • Demonstrated potential to attract external funding
