Description of Work Unit	The Department of Construction Management serves one of the largest construction management programs in the country with approximately 800 undergraduate students, 20 graduate students, 21 faculty and 7 professional staff. The Department offers both a bachelors and master’s degrees in construction management. The Department works in collaboration with both the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and School of Education to offer interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs with construction management focus areas for students with diverse backgrounds and research interests. The undergraduate program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. Academic advising, and internship and career placement support is provided by professional staff. The department engages in teaching, scholarly, and outreach activities to promote the development of knowledge and skills related to construction management. The Department’s facilities include over 36,000 square feet in dedicated labs (physical testing and computer), classrooms, and offices to support its research, teaching, and service mission. Position Summary	Teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses that prepare students to pursue a career in the construction or related industry; work with student organizations and/or mentor student competition teams, participate in graduate student advisement, develop and maintain an independent and nationally recognized research program that is supported by external funding, integrate relative research expertise into current and new academic courses, direct student research, and participate in service activity in support of the industry, university, and the department. The Department seeks a new faculty member that will add to our existing teaching and research expertise that compliments the current construction management undergraduate and graduate curriculum. All faculty are expected to contribute the Department’s diversity, equity, and inclusion practices to make the Department an inclusive environment for all students, staff, and faculty. Personal and professional commitment to diversity and inclusion as demonstrated by involvement in teaching, research, creative activity, service to the profession and/or diversity/inclusion activities. Required Job Qualifications	An earned Doctorate in construction-related field at the time of starting the tenure-track faculty appointment (August 16, 2023). Potential to successfully teach university-level courses Potential to successfully publish in academic proceedings and journals Potential to establish an externally funded research program Experience working in the Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction (AEC) or related industry
Preferred Job Qualifications	Evidence of successful university-level teaching Evidence of a publication record in academic proceedings and journals Evidence of an externally funded research program A minimum of three or more years of progressive, full-time, experience in the Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction (AEC) industry. Evidence of research expertise in one or more of the following areas: artificial intelligence, construction automation and robotics, construction health and safety, construction materials and methods, construction productivity, virtual design and construction (VDC). The ability to teach in two, or more, of the following content areas: Construction Equipment and Methods; Construction Estimating; Construction Health and Safety; Construction Materials and Testing; Construction Scheduling; Mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems Soil Mechanics Surveying/Layout/Geomatics; and/or Virtual Design in Construction; In addition to the above courses, candidates should consider what other courses in the construction management curriculum at Colorado State University that they are capable of teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
