Introduction (Description of School/College/Dept/Program) The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is the flagship urban campus of the University of Wisconsin System, with over 28,000 students. As the only accredited school of public health in the state of Wisconsin, the Zilber School of Public Health fosters a uniquely interdisciplinary environment and offers opportunities for collaboration across the University. The Zilber School currently offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and Master’s of Public Health (MPH) degrees in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health Sciences, Community and Behavioral Health Promotion, Epidemiology and Public Health Policy and Administration, as well as PhD programs in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Environmental Health Sciences, and Community and Behavioral Health Promotion.
The Zilber School’s newly completed, five-story LEED-certified main facility near downtown provides ample space for collaborative, interdisciplinary research and anchors one of Milwaukee’s transforming historic neighborhoods. We are establishing innovative practice partnerships, beginning with the City of Milwaukee Health Department, a local academic health department co-located in our new facility. Newly completed wet laboratories on the main UW-Milwaukee campus also provide complementary space for cutting-edge, laboratory-based public health research.
Milwaukee is a vibrant, diverse urban area on the shores of Lake Michigan with easy access to beaches, a thriving cultural scene, an expansive urban parks system, and hundreds of miles of bike lanes and paths. There is great enthusiasm within the Milwaukee area for promoting public health and systems change. Opportunities for collaborative research and practice across multiple institutions are available, including the nearby Medical College of Wisconsin, and major initiatives centered on improving birth outcomes and healthier food systems.
Job Summary The Zilber School of Public Health seeks outstanding candidates for an Assistant Professor position in our Biostatistics program.
