Position Description:

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is seeking a full-time board-certified/board-eligible Physician Scientist or PhD faculty to grow research initiatives in neurosciences and imaging with an emphasis on stroke, spinal cord injury, TBI recovery, rehabilitation science or cancer rehabilitation.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of research collaborations, publications, and a strong desire to further their academic career and advance science and education in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. 

The department enjoys a large integrated program with over 30 faculty at three major teaching hospitals; i) Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Administration Hospital, ii) Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, and iii) Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. 

Milwaukee 

Milwaukee is the cultural and economic center of Wisconsin.  The city boasts a very reasonable cost of living and a four-season climate.  Milwaukee is home to three major sports teams, many shopping centers and malls, and a variety of county parks in addition to a beautiful lakefront.  Milwaukee offers an excellent ballet, opera, and symphony.  An outstanding zoo provides enjoyment for the entire family.  Summer music festivals on the lakefront are among the largest in the nation.

Froedtert Hospital  

Froedtert is the primary adult hospital affiliate of the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and is staffed by MCW physicians providing care in all medical specialties and subspecialties. Froedtert is the only adult Level 1 Trauma Center in eastern Wisconsin. Located within a short distance of the hospital is a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, specializing in spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, spasticity and tone management, and general rehabilitation.
