Assistant or Associate Professor in Small Animal Internal Medicine (Two-Year Contractually Limited)

The Clinical Studies at the University of Guelph invites applications for a contractually limited part-time at 50% position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level from September 1, 2024 until September 4, 2026. Late start dates may be considered; however, the termination date of the appointment will remain.
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree, be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice in the Province of Ontario, be Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (SAIM) or have recently completed an approved ACVIM or ECVIM residency program.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in clinical small animal medicine and outstanding teaching, interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere is essential. The candidate will work with three ACVIM Diplomates to oversee the training of four ACVIM residents and rotating small animal interns. The majority of effort will be dedicated to clinical teaching activities in the OVC Health Sciences Center, which include providing small animal internal medicine case management and case-based teaching in the companion animal clinic to final-year veterinary students. The remaining effort is to be spent on collaborative research with other faculty, scholarly activity, didactic and laboratory teaching, and service. The successful candidate will participate in out-of-hours emergency duty equitably with other members of the section.
The OVC Health Sciences Centre (OVC HSC) offers state of the art diagnostic equipment including but not limited to a 1.5 Tesla high field General Electric MRI, CT, digital radiology, PACS system, state of the art ultrasonography, scintigraphy, arthroscopy, total hip replacement, Ho-YAG laser, fluoroscopy, Ultrasonic aspirator, dialysis and plasmapheresis (CRRT), ventilator, video endoscopy, and a 24/7 fully staffed intensive care.
