Summary of Job Duties:
The Assistant Manager of Special Events & Rentals will report to the Manager of Special Events & Rentals, overseeing all aspects of event rentals/ property management and logistics. The Assistant Manager will serve as Weekend Manager supervising SPEV/Rentals and administrative staff providing assistance to remedy issues and problems in accordance with the University of Arkansas and Garvan Woodland Gardens policies and procedures. In addition, will oversee Welcome Center/Visitor Services/Volunteers/Gift Shop operations on weekends.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution of higher education
At least one year of experience in event planning and coordination
Sales experience to include the development of rental packages to maximize sales
Experience coordinating staff to include recruiting, retention, training, and scheduling
Demonstrated experience speaking to groups both large and small
Preferred Qualifications:
Working with social media to market events
Retail experience to include sales and inventory
Demonstrated Photography skills to produce images and content for marking materials
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent communications, organization, and interpersonal skills
Supervisory skills
Ability to provide excellent customer service to garden staff and visitors
Ability to interpret University and Gardens policies and procedures when directing work and making decisions
Ability to interact with diverse populations
Independent problem solving
