What to Expect:

This is a key role on the Corporate Communications team as the Assistant Manager has responsibilities on both the internal & external side. The primary purpose of this role is to protect, promote and grow Nestlé Canada’s reputation both internally and externally. Internally, the position focusses on increasing employee engagement and helping bring Nestlé’s culture to life – through engaging events, creating brand love and ensuring employees are up-to-speed on Nestlé’s business strategy, priorities and initiatives. On the external side, the focus in on working with our brands, managing the PR process, handling media relations and using our corporate social & digital channels for storytelling.

A day in the life of an Assistant Manager, Corporate Communications:

  • Manage relationships with PR agencies, advising businesses on proactive media opportunities, handling media inquiries and drafting key messages, maintaining media lists, and providing communication support during crisis situations.

  • Oversee and manage Nestlé Canada’s corporate social and digital media properties, including the corporate website, META, and LinkedIn.

  • Manage media inquiries, drafts key messages/responses, handles proactive and reactive media relations, maintains media lists, and pitches stories for Nestlé Canada and its brands.

  • Develop an editorial calendar, create engaging content aligned with brand objectives, provide guidance to brands on social media, and maintain the functionality of the corporate website while implementing measures for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with the Manager, Internal Communications to implement a strategy that informs, motivates, and engages Nestlé employees regarding company priorities and initiatives.

  • Manage the execution of employee events, create awareness of new product launches, facilitate communication with internal functions, and manage awards submissions to promote Nestlé as an employer of choice.

Role Requirements

  • Completion of a Certificate or University Degree in Communications or Public Relations Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years managing internal & external corporate communications in a fast-paced business environment with complex issues.

  • Experience in Public Relations, a strong acumen of digital and social platforms and internal communications is required.

  • A strong and experienced writer who is passionate about storytelling

Preferred Skills

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to lead, influence and advise teams at all levels. Must possess an ability to present complex issues and solutions and to ensure Nestlé’s position is well represented to all internal and external audiences. Must have solid judgment skills, ability to remain calm in stressful situations and be able to present ideas persuasively.

  • Level of Responsibility: The Assistant Manager of Corporate Communications works cross-functionally with all levels of the company.

  • Decision-Making Authority: This position regularly provides advice and guidance to business leaders and business teams and makes daily decisions around how to best present Nestlé Canada to key stakeholders. Resolves issues that arise.
