Assistant Manager, Centre for Biomedical Informatics [LKCMedicine]

The Centre for Biomedical Informatics (CBI) at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine seeks to be the one stop data management and analytical hub of the medicinal school and is seeking an Assistant Manager / Senior Executive in Computer Engineering fulfil that vision.

The candidate will work closely with the High-Performance Computing Centre (HPCC) at NTU that was established in 2010 to support the needs of large-scale and compute and data intensive computation at the school. The candidate will also support the development of inhouse developed methods and algorithms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Support to CBI on use of resources at NTU HPC Clusters

  • Provide Technical Support.

  • Performance Tuning and Optimization for Open Source and commercial Applications.

  • Conducting training for users and updating of User Guide.

  • Work with collaborators and other centre members to generate analytical pipelines.

• Software development of inhouse developed methods and algorithms

  • To further develop prototypes of inhouse developed methods and algorithms for general use.

  • To make available and maintain these software on public repositories.

  • Generate documentation of developed software.

Key Competencies:

• Recognized Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering, Sciences or its equivalent. Diploma with relevant working experiences with Linux and Open-Source Software will be considered.

• At least 3 years of Good Working ExperienceSome working experience in Linux/UNIX and Open-Source Software Stack is preferred.

• Experienced in BASH, Python or Perl Programming is preferred

• Experience in parallel programming (OpenMP and MPI) and providing support for parallel high computing applications is preferred

• Experience in scientific/engineering packages in Life Science is preferred.

• Keen interest in the field of bioinformatics/life sciences and willingness to try new methods.

• Working experiences of Scheduler (LSF or PBS-Professional) is advantageous.

• Some Pproject management experience with demonstrated ability to lead facilitate planning meetings, insuring design and solution reviews take place.

• Good self-motivated team player

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills

• Good planning, organizational and time management skills

• Good interpersonal and communication skills is able to interact with faculty members and researchers
