We are looking to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant to support the Management Accounting team in the proactive support and management of its finances.

You will be a vital member of the Management Accounting team, supporting the delivery of reliable and accurate financial information. In addition, you will be taking a lead role in supporting the Apprenticeships and Partnerships Finance Manager on two areas of significant growth in the University, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and Higher Education Apprenticeships.

Ideally you will be studying for, or hold, an accounting qualification, e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA etc. You will have experience of using an accounting system and carrying out financial processes and have excellent interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the University to resolve cross-team issues, as well as with third parties.

You’ll be a good team worker as well as being able to work on own initiative. You will need to have strong IT skills and be able to work with large data sets using Microsoft Excel.

This post provides great opportunities for professional growth and development. The University currently offers blended working with the expectation of being in the office a minimum of one day a week.

We also offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, staff diversity networks, campus facilities and services to support staff from different backgrounds.

We are a member of Athena SWAN, a gender-based charter, the Race Equality Charter, Stonewall Workplace Equality Index and Disability Confident.

Middlesex University has established a wholly owned subsidiary, MU Services Limited, to provide professional services to the University. Staff of MU Services Limited will work alongside Middlesex University staff and will be employed by MU Services Limited. All University policies and procedures and the University Professional Services Staff Handbook will apply to MU Services Limited staff during their employment, unless where expressly stated otherwise.

If you would like to discuss this role further, please contact Ella Underwood, Finance & Management Information Manager (Partnerships & Apprenticeships), via email on [email protected]

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates who are underrepresented in this area. All recruitment decisions will be based on merit.

We value diversity and strive to create a fairer, more equitable work environment for our staff and students.

We offer a range of family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, staff diversity networks, campus facilities and services to support staff from different backgrounds.

Middlesex is home to a diverse community of professionals. We are a bronze award holder of the Athena Swan Charter, a member of the Race Equality Charter, a Stonewall Top 100 employer and Gold award holder in 2023, and a Disability Confident Leader. We are committed to improving employment opportunities for underrepresented groups.
