Assistant, Make It Center Operations and Guest Experience

Job Description Summary:

To work collaboratively with the Make It Center team to support the operations and programs within the Make It Center. The person in this position will uphold the policies, procedures, and processes that guide use of the Make It Center. They will also help with the hiring, training, and onboarding of hourly staff. This role is focused on ensuring that the functions and operations of the space support an engaging experience for all guests.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

  • Supports the daily operations of the Make It Center (MIC) ensuring that operational and customer service standards are met and exceeded. This includes serving guests, maintaining and supporting the use of equipment, setting up spaces for various events and programs, and facilitating a welcoming and engaging guest experience.
  • Provides front-line customer service and answers inquiries, provides information, and resolves problems or concerns related to operations, programs, guest experience, services, and equipment within the MIC.

  • Assists with the training and ongoing support and development of MIC hourly team members. This includes supporting task management and workflow, assisting with training and development, and ensuring phenomenal customer service delivery. 

  • Uphold the MIC policies and procedures as it relates to daily operations.

  • Contributes to data for reporting and planning purposes such as utilization reports, guest satisfaction, equipment condition, and staffing coverage needs.

  • Maintains inventory of MIC equipment, displays, and demonstrations.

  • Interprets and applies college policies and procedures related to MIC operation, programs, and service delivery.

  • Serves as an Ambassador of the MIC to promote the MIC to students, faculty, staff, and external community members.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting operations and maintaining facilities.

  • Demonstrated delivery of excellent customer service. 

Skills

  • Maintaining an established work schedule, including some evenings and weekends. 

  • Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills, including the use of tact and diplomacy.

  • Working collaboratively with and serving diverse internal and external partners, students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.

Required Technology Skills 

  • Use of a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.

Preferred Technology Skills 

  • Experience with Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, video conferencing, and IT/AV equipment. 

Required Work Experience

  • One year of related work experience.

Preferred Work Experience

  • Experience working in a dynamic center involving facilities management and diverse program offerings.

  • Bilingual – Spanish speaking.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or educational equivalent

Preferred Education

  • Associate degree or higher

Hours for this Position

Monday – Friday 8:30 AM -5:30 PM or 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Occasional evening and weekend hours as necessary for programming and events
