Newnham College is seeking to recruit a full time, permanent Assistant Librarian to join the Library team. The Assistant Librarian provides professional support and assistance to the College Librarian and plays a central role in the day-to-day running of the College Library. Duties are varied, and the Assistant Librarian has an involvement in most areas of the College Library’s service delivery and management. The Assistant Librarian is the senior member of staff in the College Librarian’s absence and may be required on occasion to deputize for the College Librarian. The Library team also has a Graduate Trainee, employed on a fixed term contract.

This is a permanent, full-time post, working 37.5 hours a week. The post is paid at point 36 on the University’s single salary spine, which, effective from 1 August 2022 is £29,619 per annum. Flexibility is required as there may be the occasional need to work additional hours which normally will be recompensed by time off in lieu or in some circumstances, the payment of over time. This post is pensionable under the College’s attractive contributory pension scheme, with an employer contribution rate of 21.6%, holiday entitlement is to 33 days per year (inclusive of bank holidays), a free meal when on duty, free car parking when available and free use of the College’s gym facilities.
