The Financial Accounting and Operations unit are seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant to join the team.  In this role, you will provide effective financial accounting support, assist with the administration of the University’s taxation portfolio, general ledger reconciliations, financial registers and contribute to the production of the monthly and annual financial statements.

 

You will develop positive working relationships with your team and use initiative to progress work, resolve queries and identify process improvements with a high level of professionalism and integrity.

Position Requirements

 

• Knowledge of accounting and finance policy concepts and processes and the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical work situation, in accordance with relevant Australian Accounting Standards and applicable legislative requirements.
• Advanced computer skills knowledge, particularly in the use of business support software including specialised spread-sheeting features, word-processing, electronic diaries and email.
• A relevant degree with subsequent experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with an ability to liaise with staff at all levels within the University.
• Organising work, managing tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines and resolving problems with minimal supervision and direction.
• Demonstrated team skills with an ability to work closely and cohesively within a small functional team.
• Researching and analysing a range of financial situations, statements and reports; providing accurate and informative reports and developing strategies and options to address issues raised.
• You will be expected to hold vaccinations in relation to the COVID-19 immunisation should your CQUniversity role require you to attend any setting / venue / event where there is a specific entry requirement for you to hold these vaccinations, as per relevant State Government directives.
