Assistant Director, Student Engagement Operations

The Assistant Director works as part of a larger team that creates a vibrant student experience outside the classroom. Specifically, the Assistant Director has direct oversight of spaces, services, and student employees (approximately 50 total) that contribute to the overall co-curricular experience for Brandeis students. In addition, the Assistant Director oversees financial, technology, facility, and policy management, as well as student employee hiring, training, and supervision. The Assistant Director will advance the work of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in making programs, spaces and services inclusive and accessible to all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day operations for various student engagement spaces. Responsible for Shapiro Campus Center (SCC) operations, including but not limited to management of Campus Center Team, card and key access for students, storage, and general meeting spaces, and locker distribution to commuters and club leaders. Manage club and organization storage spaces outside of Shapiro Campus Center (e.g. East Hall).  Oversee the SCC Theater, including student Theater Assistants. Manage Usdan Game Room and student staff, and serve as a liaison to the student food pantry. Manage Cholmondeley’s, a reservable event and meeting space, and student staff.
  • Manage daily operations of the Shapiro Campus Center Box Office, including daily/regularly scheduled accounting; student staff; collaboration with campus partners; management of the online ticketing system; and service-oriented transactions with both clients and customers.
  • Manage student engagement transportation fleet, reservations, and maintenance; coordination with Public Safety and Risk Management; and supervises student fleet manager.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, professional development, and evaluation of full and part-time staff, graduate assistants, and undergraduate student staff.
  • Serve as the primary advisor/supervisor for student media groups: Student Production Services, a student staff responsible for lighting and sound services for student organization events; Archon Yearbook; WBRS; the Justice; the Hoot; and others.

Some Nights and Weekends Required               

Bachelors Degree required. Masters Degree Preferred. 3-5 years of relevant experience required. Experience managing operations, including in a higher education context, strongly preferred.
