Description The Assistant Director of Tuition Planning & Student Services will manage, lead and provide hands-on direction to the team responsible for one-stop service center (phones/call center, emails, and counter) for student financial services. In addition, this position will lead efforts to perform outreach for unit. Examples: call campaigns, webinars, open-houses, financial literacy, exit & entrance counseling.
This position will report to the Assistant Vice President of Student Financial Services for customer service activities and will continue to work with Director for Tuition Planning on all outreach and decisions made concerning appeals for enhanced financial aid award. A successful candidate must have a strong understanding of financial aid and student accounts practices and policies.
Must demonstrate highly developed skills in analysis, monitoring, reporting and control, as well as superior management skills needed to maximize organizational resources and improve the customer experience; review, update, and document policies, procedures, and practices.
Responsibilities
  • Monitoring of call center to ensure standards are maintained. Develop deployment plans to meet needs to University and SFS from service perspective.
  • Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Develops and establishes policies and objectives consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient operation of service unit.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure student service.
  • May coordinate public information and outreach programs and develop sources of financial aid at the state and national levels.
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short-and long-range planning; develops tracing and evaluation programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals.
  • Develops or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operation of the department.
  • May manage specialized databases and personal computer networks; may analyze, design, and produce specialized statistical reports for college departments and/or external agencies.
  • Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, plus 5 years related experience, 4 of which are in a financial aid office with supervisory capacity or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of financial aid policies, procedures, and eligibility requirements.
  • Knowledge of student account policies and practices.
  • Employee development and performance management skills.
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-range goals.
