Work Schedule 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday – Friday with regular evening and weekend hours required in conjunction with athletic event schedules.
Primary Purpose of Position The Assistant Director reports directly to the Director of Creative Video and serves multiple sports with multi roles within the department specifically Men’s Basketball & Baseball. Creative content producer for video platforms, serving in roles for live game productions, studio productions and digital content creation. Within those platforms, they create engaging content that drives fan affinity, pushes ticket sales, generates engagement and advances the recruiting efforts of the Athletic Department.
Minimum Education/Experience Required Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience related to the area of assignment in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
University Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency and completion of a two-year technical school program in electronics and one year of experience in media technology; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Job Duties
  • Assist the Director of Creative Video with Football video needs for all home games.
  • Plan video projects with department team and assigned sports to create engaging video content to be previewed on Charlotte 49ers website, YouTube and necessary social media platforms.
  • Share creative video ideas to meet the video needs of Men’s Soccer, Men’s Basketball and Baseball.
  • Produce high quality digital videos such as, highlight recaps, practice recaps, hype/intro videos, ticket/promotional videos, special feature and in-house videoboard content
  • Collaborate with creative team on special video projects to determine best film practices such as, location scouting, personnel and proper camera equipment needs.
  • Assist with the continuous organization of captured footage onto the video library archive.
  • Photography skills are a plus.
  • Must be able to work home/away sporting events during nights and weekends.
Other Work Responsibilities
  • Assist in supervising and managing student staff within the student internship program.
  • Coordinate content creation for Conference USA requirements, media and sponsorship partners.
  • Film, organize and archive captured footage onto digital video archive library.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • Experience working in Higher Education / College Athletics environment and strongly preferred.
  • Must have a strong understanding of video editing software in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom and Photoshop.
  • Must have a strong knowledge in use of digital cameras such as Mirrorless, DSLR’s, Camcorders, Drones and Gimbal stabilizers.
  • Must be able to properly utilize cameras, audio, lights, backdrops, green screen, tripods and other needed video equipment for projects.
  • Have a good understanding of current social media practices and trends.
  • Must be team-oriented, creative, self-motivated, energetic, problem solver and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Strong knowledge of creative video content creation that engages fans, promotes the charlotte 49ers brand and strong willingness to learn more.
