Located 36 mile east of Atlanta on Emory’s historic original campus, Oxford College of Emory University invites applications for the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation.
The Assistant Director of Campus Recreation for the Center for Healthful Living provides leadership and direction over all well-being programming for campus recreation, which includes aquatics, group fitness classes, recreation programming, intramural sports, club sports, and the recreation work-study program. This position assists the Center for Healthful living in implementing a program that supports student learning and follows public health best practices. The position supervises one full-time coordinator and student staff related to recreation. The assistant director will report to the Director of the Center for Healthful Living.
Job Responsibilities
· Oversees the implementation, assessment, and operations of campus recreation at Oxford College, including intramural sports and aquatics facility.
· Oversees the recruitment, hiring, and training of student recreation staff for recreation and aquatics.
· Teaches two Physical Education courses per semester.
· Ensures that through staff recruitment and training, policy development and enforcement, supervision of ongoing maintenance, and that the pool is operated in a safe and compliant manner.
· Plans, organizes, schedules, and coordinates summer swim lesson programs.
· Collects and analyzes data to assess and evaluate programs and initiatives.
· Develops and manages the operating budgets for the assigned functional area to ensure program alignment with fiscal allocation.
· Participates in goal setting and long-range planning. Develops goals, student learning outcomes, and program objectives. Assists with the development and implementation of the overall department strategic plan.
· Stays current on trends and best practices to develop new and improved programming. Participates in professional organizations, conferences, and workshops.
· Serves on assigned campus recreation and university work teams and committees as needed
· Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in sports administration, recreation, student affairs, or closely related field
Three years of full-time professional experience related to position, including supervisory experience
Current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications, Water Safety Instruction certification, Lifeguard Instructor Certification
Any combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered
