High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communication/Creative Content. The Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communication/Creative Content assists with digital, video, and social media strategy for High Point’s 16 sport programs. Position will focus in the following areas: Video, Internet, Social Media, Branding, Multimedia, Strategy, and Assigned Sports.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Training: 
•    Bachelor’s degree in a field such as Journalism, Communications, Digital Media, or Graphic Design
•    Master’s preferred or equivalent experience.
•    At least two years of full-time experience in Athletic Communications or a related field

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
•    Strong writing, editing, and design (video and web skills)
•    Experience in video streaming including production, shooting, and editing
•    Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
•    Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
•    Working knowledge of website management (preferably SIDEARM)
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
•    Ability to develop and maintain relationships with members of the media, coaches, student-athletes, athletics staff, parents, fans, and alumni
•    Ability to work independently as well as lead projects
•    Ability to work flexible schedule including late night and weekend hours
•    Must be able to develop and maintain strong relationships with members of the media, coaches and student-athletes, parents, fans and alumni.
•    Must be able to supervise communications staff

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :  

  • Assists with the creation of a variety of videos for social media, in venue, and marketing campaigns.
  • Assists with the production, shooting, & editing for a variety of HPU Athletics events.
  • Produces, shoots, and edits a range of high-quality video content for use across HPU Athletics social media channels, marketing entities, and in-venue content.
  • Crafts and executes creative media strategies, concepts, and trend setting ideas.
  • Meets quick deadlines while maintaining high quality videos.
  • Assists in the day-to-day operations in the creative video space, including but not limited to, ensuring coverage of home and away events, internship programs, and equipment management.
  • Plans and oversees execution of creative content to increase awareness of HPU, the brand, and our vision.
  • Continues to develop the strategies and goals of the creative video department, to continue to elevate the HPU Athletics brand
  • Serves as primary media contact for multiple programs managing media relations, publications, and social media
  • Helps execute the department’s social media strategy across all platforms to increase viewers and creative content
  • Assists with the design and execution of the department’s graphics and branding templates
  • Builds relationships with and pitches stories to local, regional, and national media contacts
  • Attends all home athletic events for assigned sport(s) and away as necessary
  • Designs and edits content for assigned sports including photos, videos, and graphic design
  • Assists in maintaining official HPU Athletics accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Maintains positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with students, students’ parents, faculty, co-workers, and managers
  • Other duties as assigned

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Supervises three full-time staff members as well as student workers and part-time staff (announcers, video assistants, scoreboard operators, photographers, etc.) when it pertains to Communications functions
