Summary of Job Duties:
The position serves as the Assistant Director of Affirmative Action and is primarily responsible for the administration and facilitation of the University Staff Grievance Procedure, serves as an investigator with the complaint procedure in accordance with the Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Policies.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, personnel management, social science or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
At least four years of prior experience handing EEO compliance issues including employee relations, complaints, and employee grievance matters
Must be able to work collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or equivalent in a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
PHR or professional certification in the field of affirmative action or equal opportunity
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge and effective leadership in the administration of policies and procedures designed to ensure compliance with federal and state equal opportunity, and applicable university policies
Strong presentation, oral, and written communication skills
Strong organizational and task management skills
Solid analytical skills
Effective team skills
Ability to document decisions at the project team level and properly escalate those decisions that cannot be resolved on a timely basis
Ability to structure work efficiently
Ability to use interpersonal influences to gain goal alignments with results versus activity-oriented outcomes
Ability to maintain objectivity and safeguard confidential and sensitive information
