Work Schedule 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Primary Purpose of Position The Assistant Director of Affinity Networks is responsible for managing alumni affinity networks which are defined as groups of alumni who share common identities, passions and connection points. The position is responsible for strategically developing programs, activities and communications to connect, serve and engage alumni within each affinity network. These networks include the Black Alumni Chapter, Legacy Alumni Network, Alumni Campus Employees (ACE), Asian-American Pacific-Islander Alumni Network, LGBTQIA+ Alumni Network and Latinx/a/o Alumni Network. The Assistant Director of Affinity Networks is also responsible for the creation and management of additional networks.
Minimum Education/Experience Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university and at least three years of program associate experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Essential Job Duties
  • Lead the efforts in identifying, recruiting, onboarding, training, and engaging a volunteer board/committee for each affinity network.
  • Partner with affinity board leadership to set yearly program goals.
  • Develop meeting agendas and execute programs initiatives created to engage and connect network alumni with each other and the university.
  • Develop and manage budgets for each of the affinity networks, together with the Director of Alumni Engagement Programming
Other Work Responsibilities Participate in office and university-wide initiatives as needed.
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of three years working in alumni engagement or a closely related field.
  • Experience with volunteer management, event planning and social media skills.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse lived experiences is a plus.
  • A familiarity with UNC Charlotte is a plus.
