Assistant Director for Chinese Marketing, University Communications / 大学传播部市场运营助理主任

The Assistant Director for Chinese Marketing reports to the Director of University Communications. He/she is responsible for developing and implementing NYU Shanghai’s integrated marketing strategy (traditional, digital, and social media platforms) to strengthen the brand and growth development of the school as China’s first Sino-US research university.

 

He/she will also play the role of chief editor of all Chinese content produced by University Communications, to be published on the official website, publications, social media, etc, and will work closely with the counterpart in the English Marketing team to plan, deliver and measure marketing content and make sure it is in line with the school’s strategic objective, and the bilingual content is produced in the most effective and efficient way by the two teams.

 

The main responsibilities include:

  • Developing yearly marketing strategy and content calendar in alignment with the university’s mission and vision;
  • Managing, leading, and coordinating the Chinese marketing team in creating original content across print and digital platforms that include news, features, video production, event announcements, photos, websites, social media;
  • Ensuring the quality, accuracy, tone, and marketing angle of all marketing projects by communicating efficiently to meet needs of all stakeholders so that results are aligned with university publicity requirements and brand identity in support of the school’s China-specific and global outreach;
  • Generating and implementing strategies for improving written work product and work processes within the department;
  • Supervising a team of 4 – 5 people, including Translators and Chinese writers, Chinese editor, Chinese Social Media Coordinator;
  • Serving as the final check to make sure that all Chinese content produced by University Communications is consistent in voice, terminology, and quality;
  • Working closely with the Translators and Writers to create and update style guides, reference materials, and term bases for internal use;
  • Overseeing publications projects including school’s magazine, First Destination Report, Commencement Brochure, etc.;
  • Managing documents related to Government relations;
  • Coordinating between teams within UC as needed;
  • Managing cross-department communications.

Required Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree preferred.

Required Experience

  • At least 8 years of work experience in communications, journalism, marketing, writing, editing or other equivalent work in media, public relations or corporate communications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong project management skills;
  • Strong team leadership skills;
  • Excellent Chinese writing, editing and editorial skills;
  • Excellent English to Chinese translation skills;
  • Strong English writing/communication skills;
  • Experience in publication production, ie magazines/booklet/brochure’s planning/design/printing.
