Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Executive Education Human Resources and Community Values, the Assistant Director (AD) is a newly established role designed to enable HBS Executive Education to expand capacity to retain and develop ExEd staff. This position will further advance the department which has grown to over 180 FTEs and over 100 contingent staff members.
The AD will support the Director on administering HR policies and procedures and will serve as an employee relations resource for staff.
Position Description
Staff Development:
- Support team and individual education and development needs in collaboration with the School’s Director of Learning and Development Serve on the HBS Learning & Development Advisory Committee
- Collaborate with ExEd HR Director to evaluate and improve performance management processes
- Track staff participation in training, education, and development opportunities
Staff Experience, Culture, and Engagement:
- Foster and contribute to an environment that attracts and engages a diverse, effective, collaborative pool of talent
- Collaborate with HBS HR as the ExEd talent acquisition liaison
- Work with ExEd HR Director to design, implement, and mature a cohesive talent management lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, development, retention)
- Oversee organizational onboarding practices to support new hires
- Oversee offboarding process, conducting exit interviews to support smooth transition for employee and organization
- Nurture culture and employee engagement initiatives, including staff recognition and morale events
- Oversee the volunteer social committee and planning/managing of social events and volunteer opportunities
- Work with ExEd HR Director to strategize on ways to improve engagement and morale
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
This role is responsible for other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 6+ years of relevant experience in service-driven human resources or related higher education administration capacity.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Must possess excellent judgement, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Must have a deep understanding of the diplomacy and protocol involved in working closely with staff, participants, and faculty.
- Requires administrative experience and the ability to manage projects and processes from conception through delivery.
- The ability to handle confidential information with a high degree of discretion is a must.
- Experience with difficult conversations.
Additional Information
This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 2-3 days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.
