Assistant Director, Athletics Internal Affairs

Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Athletics Internal Affairs assists in the planning, organization, and oversight of daily operations of the athletic internal affairs department.

Job Description

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with the oversight of day to day operations within the Athletics Internal Affairs Office.
  • Oversee procurement and travel card acquisition, disposal and dollar limits for the Athletic Department.
  • Compile and distribute budget reporting to departmental staff members on a recurring basis.
  • Manage candidate travel, onboarding of new employees, and transitional housing.
  • Reconcile travel charges for NCAA Official Visits, athletic game guarantees, and internal athletic camps.
  • Oversee addition and modification of Athletic Department vendors/payees including companies, independent contractors and other universities.
  • Coordinates cash handling and check deposits for the Athletic Department.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of human resources / business policies, procedures and processes to ensure effective operations.
  • Assist with annual NCAA Financial Report, EADA and other audits.
  • Ensures all safety practices are followed.

Other Duties:

  • Assists with special projects as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director of Internal Affairs.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • Three years of full-time professional experience related to the position.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a higher education athletic department.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines established by professional organizations and/or governing agencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies and procedures consistently.
  • Ability and willingness to assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with both internal and external constituencies.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.

Salary Range: $33,100 – $40,000
