| Posting Summary | A hallmark of Rutgers Law School is our longstanding and unwavering commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. Our Minority Student Program (MSP) is a nationally-acclaimed and highly successful post-admissions program that provides opportunity and support to students of color and students of all ethnicities who have faced socio-economic challenges. The program takes a proactive approach to help students who are members of groups underrepresented in the legal profession succeed in law school by offering legal skills development, academic support, alumni mentoring and networking, summer internships and other opportunities. Since its inception in 1968, more than 3,000 students in the program have graduated from Rutgers Law and changed the face of the legal profession. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of MSP, the Assistant Director will provide leadership and oversight to this key diversity and inclusion initiative of the Law School. The Assistant Director will counsel MSP students on academic, professional and personal goals, assisting with planning and executing events related to career exploration, academic success and bar association relations. The Assistant Director will build, maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, bar association leaders and legal employers, to provide assistance and support to underrepresented law students to ensure their success in law school and successful transition to the legal profession. |

| Work Arrangement | Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. | COVID-19 Immunization Requirement | Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination. |

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience | Requires a bachelors degree in a related field, with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. Requires a background in student affairs, counseling or academic support, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of law school learning strategies and methodologies for individuals and groups. |

| Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | Requires a demonstrated commitment to furthering diversity, inclusion and equity in the legal profession and supporting under-represented law students. Requires general knowledge of the under-represented student experience. Experience in coordinating events and conference planning is also required in addition to experience developing mentoring programs and other diversity pipeline initiatives. Requires experience in grant-writing and other aspects of fundraising. Requires excellent judgment, writing, organizational and problem-solving skills. Also requires good communication skills, including verbal, written, and listening skills, as well as computer literacy. |
