Assistant Director for Residential Conduct

University Housing

University Housing within the Division of Student Life invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Residential Conduct. The Assistant Director serves as a member of the residence life leadership team and the central staff. The position will oversee the departmental residential conduct process and supervise professional staff.

The Position: The position will oversee the departmental residential conduct process and supervise professional staff.  The position will oversee incident report processing and distribution to appropriate hall staff, turns all incident reports into cases and assigns each case to the appropriate Hall Director. This position works closely with staff members to determine charges and sanctions for cases based on the information in the incident report. This position tracks case adjudication and adjudication timelines.

Qualifications

 

Responsibilities:

  • Train all staff on the procedures and expectations of the conduct process, the Standards of Conduct and University Housing policies, and the utilization of the Maxient system.
  • Oversee two residence halls located in a geographical area of campus.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards and the Center for Health Education and Wellness to schedule educational classes, track and share specific student issues, track sanctions, and reassign cases. 
  • Work directly with and provide leadership and supervision for two Hall Directors, 2-4 Graduate Assistants, and 1 Administrative Support Assistant III (ASA III).  The Assistant Director indirectly supervise s35-45 Resident Assistants (RAs) and numerous Office/Post Office Assistants.
  • Responsible for the comprehensive student life program in their respective area, housing approximately 1500-2800 on-campus students. The Assistant Director may advise departmental committees.
  • Works closely with each staff members to determine charges and sanctions for cases.  Track case adjudication and timelines. Run conduct reports for University Housing and other stakeholders when needed. 

What We Require

Education:

Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Development or related field is required.

Experience:

Minimum of four years residence life or student affairs work experience. Two years of graduate assistantship related experience counts as one year of professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Qualified candidates will have experience in residence life, residential conduct, community development and staff supervision.
  • Knowledge and prior utilization of a conduct management system.
  • Effective management skills.

Education: Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Development or related field is required.

Experience:

  • Leadership and effectiveness in promoting respect and appreciation for diversity among students and staff. 
  • Ability to use various computer applications and software.
  • Experience with Maxient conduct management system.
  • Crisis management experience.

Salary: The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and other qualifications and is accompanied by a standard university benefits package. This is an exempt, 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track staff position.
