The Department of Preventive Dental Science invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in the division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, commencing July 1, 2025, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Department seeks an emerging scholar with a commitment to excellence in teaching and research. Qualified candidates at any rank will be considered with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below:
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:
Responsibilities will include didactic, preclinical and clinical orthodontic teaching in the undergraduate programs, International Dental Degree Program (IDDP), the Graduate Orthodontic and Dentofacial Orthopedics specialty program, and International Dental Specialty Fellowship Program (administered by PGME) if this program is being offered, as well as undergraduate orthodontic program administration in the capacity of Director: Undergraduate Orthodontics. Research, and participation in community service programs in Orthodontics, clinical orthodontic patient care and emergency services in the Graduate Orthodontic Clinic will also be required. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR:
The rank of Associate Professor the applicant will have experience in teaching at the graduate level, masters-level research experience, mentorship and evidence of a successful dossier in research, including peer-reviewed publications and success in obtaining grant funding. A masters-level degree is the minimal requirement for Associate Professor and a PhD would be a strong asset.
The appointee must have completed a university-based Orthodontic specialty training program with at least 2 years of clinical experience as a specialist orthodontist. Teaching experience in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics is required at the undergraduate level, as well as an interest in Orthodontic Biomechanics and Growth and Development. Successful completion of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) / Canadian National Dental Specialty Exam (NDSE) examination in Orthodontics at the time of hire is preferred. If the applicant has not graduated from a CDAC or CODA specialty program, then successful completion of a Dental Specialty Assessment Training Program / International Dental Specialty Fellowship in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, from a Canadian University is required. Extramural practice privilege is available 1 day per week upon signing of a Practice Agreement.
