Primary Purpose of Position
The College of Science and Technology at North Carolina A&T State University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position for the Geomatics program in the Department of Built Environment starting January 2023. An appointment at a higher rank may be considered for exceptionally qualified applicants. In particular, the Department is seeking qualified candidates who can develop a collaborative and innovative research program in geomatics and more specifically geospatial areas such as geodesy, remote and digital sensing, photogrammetry, geographic information systems (GIS); global navigation satellite systems (GNSS); and data acquisition and analysis from multiple sensor types flown using UAVs. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain a vigorous research program in the field of geomatics. The selected candidate is expected to secure extramural funding, and direct the research activities of graduate students in and contribute to the growth of the PhD Program in Applied Science Technology.
The hired faculty is also expected to show commitment to teaching excellence. The faculty will be responsible for teaching courses both online and on campus in the ABET-accredited Geomatics program, develop courses and curricula, direct students in research, and provide service to the department, college, and university.

The Department of Built Environment enrolls over 200 undergraduate and graduate majors. The Department offers three-degree programs: a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Environmental Health and Safety and Geomatics. The Construction Management program is accredited by ACCE and ABET. Geomatics and EHS are accredited by ABET. In addition, the Department is involved in the Ph.D. in Applied Science and Technology, and the Construction Management Program is involved in the Master of Science in the Applied Engineering Technology (AET) program. Minimum Requirements
The applicant must have an earned doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Geomatics or a related geospatial science or engineering area from an accredited institution. Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Strong communication and interpersonal skills are desired.
