As an assistant or associate professor accounting, you will be part of the accounting group of the Department of Economics and Business Economics at the Nijmegen School of Management (NSM) .
Accounting at NSM is Accounting+. It all starts from the premise that Accounting is an active agent in a dynamic and evolving social world. Accounting+@NSM thus focuses on the grand societal challenges of our times, embraces their interdisciplinary context, recognizes their conceptual complexity, and aims at identifying actionable outcomes. The Accounting+ approach of the accounting group at NSM is evidenced in the full breadth of its activities related to teaching, research, and social impact activities.
This position includes both research and teaching. You will be expected to conduct high-quality and original research in line with the above Accounting+ profile. Preferably, you will show an interest in the relationships between accounting and sustainability, and accounting and artificial intelligence (AI). Further potential topics include, but are not limited to, accounting information systems (AIS), auditing of financial and non-financial information, and behavioural accounting. This position is expected to result in a series of high-quality publications. The Nijmegen School of Management explicitly encourages interdisciplinary research in which accounting is studied from various perspectives, including philosophy of mind and action and neuroscience. You will further be expected to provide high-quality courses in accounting and economics at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, and to supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
Profile
We are
The department of Economics and Business Economics consists of five theme groups: Accounting, Finance, Economic Theory and Policy, International Economics, and Developmental Economics. The department is responsible for the development and quality of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Economics, as well as for courses in Economics in other educational programmes offered by NSM. What sets the Nijmegen curriculum in Economics apart is that it is characterised by a multidisciplinary approach, whereby in addition to the economics discipline, inspiration is sought from other areas.
In our education and research at NSM, we focus on various social issues, such as with our campaign Profit without Loss. Our purpose is to enable students, organisations, societal actors and governments to play their part in the transformation towards sustainable societies.
