Position description
The Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery is inviting applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical). The professorial rank will be according to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a three-year, renewable appointment and does not confer eligibility for tenure.
The successful applicant will demonstrate clinical expertise in the area of stroke neurology, and will be expected to participate in the activities of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Stroke Prevention Clinic and to work towards the continuing development of the MUHC stroke program, with its emphasis on excellence in clinical care, training, and developing innovative care with community partners.
The candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the MUHC, which includes major McGill University-affiliated teaching hospitals at several sites in downtown Montreal. Neurologists and neurologist-scientists provide tertiary in-patient and out-patient neurological care, engage in a wide range of clinical and basic neuroscience research, and lead strong clinical neuroscience teaching programs in undergraduate and postgraduate medicine at the Montreal Neurological Hospital and Institute, Montreal General Hospital, and the Royal Victoria Hospital. Out-patient activities will be based at the Montreal General Hospital, Stroke Prevention Clinic. This tertiary referral clinic is a key element in developing a world-leading translational research program.

Job Duties
The successful applicant will contribute to a strong clinical and research program, and be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (teaching, research and involvement in academic and administrative committees), provide excellent clinical teaching and supervision to residents and medical students, and to pursue scholarly activities in advancing clinical care and/or clinical research in the area of cerebrovascular neurology.
