Description:

Unity Health Toronto and the University of Toronto’s Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology are seeking applications from qualified and highly motivated individuals to fill a permanent Hematopathology position in our centre. The successful applicant must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor at the University of Toronto. The start date will be August 1, 2025, or mutually agreed upon. 

Unity Health Toronto comprises St. Michael’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Providence Healthcare in Toronto. The network has a focus on inner city health as well as world-class care in endoscopy, surgery and oncology, with busy Hematology and Hematopathology clinical groups. The successful candidate will provide excellence in our Hematopathology group. Experience with clow cytometry and lymph node pathology would be an asset. The successful candidate will also contribute to the academic mission of the Department, via participation in collaborative research, undergraduate teaching and residency training programs. The Department’s strategic plan includes a focus on diagnostic innovation, test utilization and clinical engagement. Interest in one of these would be an asset. 

Applicants must be eligible for medical licensure in the province of Ontario and must hold postgraduate qualifications in Hematopathology or Anatomical Pathology with Hematopathology specialist training. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology. Fellowship training or demonstrated subspecialty expertise/commitment is strongly favoured. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Compensation will be in accordance with the uniform level of compensation in the Province of Ontario, where the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care has implemented a total compensation package that will equalize the successful candidate’s compensation with that of other Laboratory Physicians in the Province of Ontario (currently $383,911) .
