ASSISTANT ART DIRECTOR, Sloan School of Management-Sloan Management Review (SMR), to be responsible for brand visual excellence and cohesiveness as a key member of the creative team that helps bring management concepts to life visually and supports the growth and vision of the overall MIT SMR brand.  Will work with cross-functional teams and lead the design of visual materials for integrated, cross-channel initiatives–web, social, print, and multimedia–including managing daily editorial visual elements, developing guidelines and templates and art direction for freelancers and producers, and overseeing design quality.  Will be expected to work within the design budget to create compelling, clever, and contemporary visuals; source and manage creative talent; and manage day-to-day visual design projects.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; formal design training; at least three years’ relevant professional graphic design experience, including print and digital formats; demonstrated design leadership; experience designing for digital and print; professional portfolio of relevant work; ability to translate abstract concepts into compelling visuals; willingness and ability to remain up-to-date on current design trends and industry practices; proficiency with industry design tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; understanding of web design concepts and multichannel ecosystems; strong illustration and typographic skills; experience working in a deadline-driven environment; and ability to communicate creative concepts with both designers and non-designers.  PREFERRED

:  media/publishing background; familiarity with social media platform visual strategies; experience with project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello, jira); and expertise in adapting to new technologies and tools. Job #21894-7
