Archives & Special Collections Adviser

University of Leicester

About the role

We are looking for an Adviser to join our small, friendly team as maternity cover, and help our users access and engage with our wonderful archives, special collections and rare books. You will act as a first point of contact for enquiries and help to ensure the reading room, where researchers come and look at our collections, runs smoothly and efficiently. There will be opportunities to contribute to service improvement and various outreach activities, e.g. exhibitions, open days, events and volunteering programmes.

About you

We are looking for someone with an understanding of the value of historic collections and a passion to support people using them in different ways. You will be a good communicator, confident giving and receiving information in a polite and friendly way. Even if you have not used archives before you understand why and how they need to be handled safely. You will be organised and able to juggle different aspects of the job, working well with other members of the team.

Additional information

Please contact Vicky Holmes, University Archivist ([email protected]) for informal enquiries.

We anticipate shortlisting to take place in the week commencing 7 November 2022, and interview date to be 22 November 2022.
