Full time, Fixed term position for up to 24 months.
The Chemical Engineering team is seeking a motivated materials scientist to work on the design and developing of materials for battery applications. Work includes synthesizing nanomaterials with well-defined structures, conducting various characterizations of these nanomaterials, designing testing compartments, and testing for battery performance. The successful candidate will be specifically working on material synthesis, solid-state batteries and battery recycling.
The successful applicant will be working in the Centre for Materials in Energy and Catalysis, with a diverse range of scientists and engineers with expertise in materials science and engineering for energy-related applications. The research will be interdisciplinary and have a strong fundamental component with cutting-edge materials synthesis and advanced analytical methods. These positions can offer you an exceptional opportunity to work closely with key research participants around the world.
To be successful you will need:
- A recent PhD degree, or is completing a PhD degree (<12 months), in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science or related field.
- Expertise in the synthesis of functional materials and their application in energy storage and conversion technologies including solid-state batteries, lithium metal batteries, aqueous batteries, etc.
- Strong background in battery recycling technologies such as direct recycling and upcycling, etc. Knowledge and experience in modern materials characterization methodologies, such as Microscopy, and in-situ spectroscopy.
- Good teamwork that is suitable for a research group that includes a mixture of undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs and senior academic staff, under the direction of a supervisor.
- Excellent track record in scientific journal publications or invention patents.
