Aquatic Operation Specialist (Staff Wage)

Intramural-Recreational Sports (IM-Rec Sports) Department is seeking an Aquatic Operations Specialist for the Aquatic Facilities unit. The position is primarily responsible for working with the Aquatic Manager to assist in the day-to-day operation of the Intramural-Recreational Sports (IM-Rec Sports) Department Aquatic Facilities. Position duties include but not limited to:

  • Supporting training, supervision, and development of aquatic student employees  
  • Maintain records and reports on the day-to-day operation of the pool, including daily bather load totals. 
  • Responsible for daily cleaning tasks and assuring overall cleanliness of aquatic facilities 
  • Maintaining inventory 
  • Provides on-deck customer service  
  • Responsible for assuring risk management policies and procedures are followed by staff and customers  
  • Attends and participates in aquatic staff meetings and in-service training sessions 
  • Serves as a primary staffing resource during academic semesters, University Holidays and breaks Must be willing to work some opening and closing shifts when available 
  • Works scheduled university academic breaks (Fall Break, November, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer) 
  • Other duties as assigned ​

Position Compensation Range: $16.50 – $20.00 Hourly.

A potential one-time bonus could be considered after 30 days of satisfactory performance. Selected candidate will have complimentary gym membership to all UVA recreation facilities included while employed

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic or Public Administration; Sports, Recreation, or Park Management; College Student Personnel; Health or Physical Education; or related discipline.
Experience: None.
Licensure: American Red Cross CPR / AED certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
