ESL 130: Academic Enhancement in English

Refinement of previously learned reading and listening skills and improvement of critical thinking skills. In speaking and writing, learning self-correction strategies through coursework that includes: debates and extended oral presentations, unguided summaries, and academic essays using various organizational patterns.

Term Dates: Tuesday, January 7 to Friday, April 11, 2025

Schedule: Monday – Friday, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM.

Master’s degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline. Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level. Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course. Experience with team-teaching. TESL Certification or equivalent.

  • This course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction.
  • Professors teaching the same section mutually agree upon teaching schedules. In circumstances of limited sections on offer and/or conflicting schedules among professors, the unit reserves the right to select professor teaching days for a given section.
