ESL 120: Academic Development in English
Building on previously acquired skills to help students understand longer listening and reading passages with different patterns of organization. In speaking and writing, classes introduce students to the academic requirements of: oral presentations, and paragraphs using various organizational patterns.

Master’s degree in second language teaching, TESL or related discipline. Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college/university level. Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course. Experience with team-teaching. TESL Certification or equivalent.

- This course is offered exclusively on the University of Ottawa campus and requires in-person instruction.
- Professors teaching the same section mutually agree upon teaching schedules. In circumstances of limited sections on offer and/or conflicting schedules among professors, the unit reserves the right to select professor teaching days for a given section.
