Course Description:
Series of workshops related to professional development. Guest speakers on special topics will be invited. Students also work in teams (peer groups) to complete hands-on and online learning modules. This includes professional development, entrepreneur, design and team-building activities sponsored by the Faculty of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design as well as the University Career Center. It will include required modules on academic writing, plagiarism and conducting a literature review.

Requirements:
Expert knowledge of the course subject matter, demonstrated by relevant publications or experience. The applicant must have significant experience mentoring technical people with advanced degrees to success in their careers, and must be able to provide students with experiences that build up their technical skills, their soft skills (communication, teamwork, project management) and their professional networks. Applicants must have a doctorate relevant to electrical engineering and worked professionally in their field after their doctorate.
Additional Information
The contract for this course will include a payment for 52 hours (instead of 39 hours), as it is required that the part-time professor teaching this course attends tutorials (in-person, virtual) at least one hour per week (on average).
