Department Summary
Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide-ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to support the University of Oregon’s business applications. The Application Service employee will manage application services and provide business process analysis, application administration, configuration, change management, testing, maintenance, and support for cloud-based/SaaS and on-premise business applications. The position works with end users as well as other technical staff from data management, middleware, application development, and customer experience teams to deliver solutions to campus stakeholders.
Information Services relies on this position to use excellent judgment in troubleshooting escalated application issues, including the ability to analyze issues and facilitate escalations to vendors, developers, supervisors, other colleagues, or leaders/team members of related services, projects, or initiatives. This position works independently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Requirements
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technology and information systems as generally obtained through an associate’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
Professional Competencies
• Ability to learn new technologies and applications
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures and apply these interpretations to non-routine situations
• Ability to apply consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technical and non-technical solutions
• Ability to understand, create, and maintain technical documentation
• Ability to create training materials and assist in end-user training
• Ability to analyze system errors through log analysis
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience configuring and administrating Software as a Service (SaaS) and on-premise applications, and is familiar with SaaS technology standards and concepts
• Experience with integration concepts and data flow diagrams and logic
• Experience providing consulting services, with strong problem-solving ability and training experience.
• Experience working with end-users to define functional requirements and formulate appropriate solutions
• Proven ability to troubleshoot application problems
• Ability to learn new technologies and applications
• At least 3 years of experience in software/solution development and application management
