Position Overview

Work as part of a team to support the mission of the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS).  This position works collaboratively to develop, implement, and maintain data-driven applications in support of the KGS research and outreach mission.  An ideal candidate for this position is a team player that is organized, resourceful, and self-motivated.  Duties include maintaining and developing complex websites as part of a team of developers.

Work Location:  Onsite, Remote, and Hybrid options

Salary, Employment Status, and Fringe Benefits
Full-time position with benefits, subject to a six-month probation and annual performance reviews.   Salary starts at $55,000 – $70,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Job Description

  • (70%) Work collaboratively to design, develop and maintain data-driven information systems.
  • (20%) Participate in system design, technical architecture development, and maintenance of technical platforms and applications.
  • (10%) Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with Javascript, HTML, CSS, Java, PHP, Cold Fusion, or similar sufficient to demonstrate the ability to develop data-driven applications in a team environment. 
  • Experience with database development and SQL.
  • Strong communication skills. Written skills will be evaluated by quality of application materials and/or published materials. Oral communication skills will be assessed by the interview and through reference checks.  
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with version control software.
  • Experience with batch-processing scripts using shell scripts, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience with an object-oriented programming language.
  • Experience with Oracle Database and Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Experience working in a collaborative application development environment.
  • Experience working with end users.
