Animal Care Attendant

404 Veterinary Emergency + Referral Hospital is welcoming an Animal Care Attendant to join our Emergency team on a full-time basis. In this position, you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team and helping to create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

This is a 24-hour department, so shifts include daytime, overnight, weekends, and holidays. Previous experience in a veterinary setting is an asset but not necessary.

Duties will include:

• Assisting the Emergency team with patient triages and exams

• Assisting the Emergency team with diagnostics

• Assisting with Emergency surgeries – patient prep and prep of the surgical suite

• Assisting the Emergency team with hospitalized patients

• Some reception duties including answering the phones and checking in/billing out emergency clients

• Providing compassionate care and comfort to all patients

Qualities we look for in a team member:

• Previous experience in the veterinary or small animal industry

• Excellent communication skills with team members and clients

• Acts with courtesy, diplomacy, and discretion at all times

• Maintains a positive and cooperative relationship with team members

• Maintains external and internal relationships with professionalism and integrity

• Demonstrates initiative to carry out tasks independently, under minimal supervision

• Demonstrates accountability and dependability

• Ability to be flexible in attitude and work habits

• Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills

• Ability to remain calm during stressful situations with patients, clients, and team members

• Demonstrates judgment and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail

• Ability to manage time efficiently while taking on multiple tasks

• Ability to pronounce, understand, and spell commonly used veterinary terms
