Position Summary Information

Duties The AMSTI assistant materials manager is a 12-month contract position. The site director may document prior work experience that is directly related to the skills required in this position (e.g., accounting, warehousing, purchasing, stocking, and inventory control, computer/database, business, and facility/operation management) and award such experience to count toward time placement on the **Salary Matrix for AMSTI Assistant Materials Manager, with guidance from AMSTIALSDE at the time of employment. If needed, the AMSTI Business/AMSTI State Materials Director and/or the site’s business or materials manager is available to assist with decisions related to awarding of prior experience. Future employment is contingent upon AMSTI funding.

AMSTI Assistant Materials Manager responsibilities include the following:
● Assist with oversight of the operation of the materials center
● Ensure that the AIMS data for the region is accurate and up to date
● May supervise workers assigned to the materials center
● Assist in providing the materials, supplies, and equipment to AMSTI-trained teachers as specified by AMSTIALSDE
● Train workers on correct refurbishment procedures
● Construct and refurbish math and science teaching kits
● Help to coordinate the purchasing, inventorying, scheduling, and distribution of science and mathematics modules and materials
● Communicate effectively with teachers about their materials usage and professional learning, based on information provided by AMSTI and AMSTIASIM staff
● Assist in organizing the materials center to ensure efficient use of space and storage of materials
● Help to provide reports to the AMSTI site director or AMSTIALSDE regarding the teacher and materials database, material costs, distribution schedules, employee assignments, and labor hours, as requested
● Assist AMSTI staff with preparation for programs and presentations, and with the operation of the materials center
● Help maintain a safe working environment
● Attend all required professional learning activities and staff meetings conducted by the ALSDE, unless prior approval for absence is granted by the ALSDE
● Perform other duties as assigned by the materials manager, AMSTI site director, AMSTI State Materials Director, or AMSTIALSDE
Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in inventory control, stocking and shelving.
• Experience in purchasing.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift heavy objects (at or above 40 pounds).

University Information Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions. Presently, over 3,100 students have selected Athens State because of its neighborly environment where 50 majors and degree programs are offered, with courses taught by a supportive and exceptional faculty.
