The Ohio State University College of Social Work seeks an Alumni Engagement Senior Associate who will expand the College’s overall reach and engagement. The position’s core mission is to deepen relationships through events, volunteerism, and special projects.

The Alumni Engagement Senior Associate will have a primary role as program manager coordinating both in-person and virtual engagement events, including alumni homecoming weekend events, alumni awards ceremonies, and programming that showcases faculty scholarship and thought leadership. They will demonstrate and apply a consistent standard of excellence and technological sophistication in designing and implementing events that expand awareness of, and advocacy for, engagement in and giving to Ohio State and the College of Social Work.

This position will help drive volunteerism for the college by assisting with the coordination of existing volunteer opportunities. Working in partnership with Advancement colleagues, faculty, and college leadership, the successful candidate will design and implement creative, innovative strategies with the goal of involving an increased number of alumni in the life of the college. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Alumni Engagement Senior Associate is expected to have superior customer service skills and competency in virtual engagement tools, including Zoom, as well as strong multi-tasking and time management skills. They will bring energy, fresh ideas, confidence and the ability to interact personally with a diverse group of constituents.

This role requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to include pre-planned evenings, weekends and occasional travel.

Responsibilities

70% – Program Coordination

Provides outreach and engagement to our 14,000+ alumni through events and programming. Serves as a project manager and executes alumni events, including Social Work hall of fame awards, homecoming football tailgate, and alumni leadership dinners with the Dean, etc. Responsible for steering volunteer outreach and engagement opportunities and tactics, with emphasis on relationship building with alumni. Collaborates with college program leaders to engage alumni as volunteers and ambassadors of the college. Directs the hall of fame awards process, from nomination to awards presentation. Execute all alumni events demonstrating high proficiency in virtual and in-person engagement tools.

20% – Annual Fund

Works with central annual giving to increase alumni giving engagement. Works closely with the Chief Development Officer to work on targeted mailing appeals that will increase annual giving fundraising and number of alumni that donate to the College of Social Work.

10% – Other

Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. 

  • Minimum of three years of experience in event planning, project management, alumni engagement or related work.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Ability to lift 20-30 lbs. occasionally.

  • Knowledge of the social work profession, social work values and social issues

Additional Information:

Target Hiring Range: $49,800 – $66,400.

Ohio State is focused on enhancing the health and safety of our community. By the start of employment, all newly hired employees must receive at least the first dose of a two-dose series or a single dose of a one-dose series COVID-19 vaccination.
