About This Opportunity 

Locally known as Advisor, AskHR, this role is accountable for the effective provision of HR advice to meet the operational and service delivery needs of The University. The role is the primary contact for the day to day delivery of clear and accurate HR advice and support to staff and their supervisors, ensuring consistent application of the HR policy framework to meet the diverse needs of clients.

 Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Manages the delivery of clear, accurate, timely and responsive HR advice and support and refers clients to relevant sources of additional information

  • Supports the ongoing operational needs of clients and contributes to the implementation of HR initiatives and projects aligned to plans, business unit objectives and the UQ HR strategy

  • Escalates/refers complex client issues or sensitive needs that require additional expertise or input in order to meet client needs and requirements

  • Acts as a trusted specialist adviser, providing comprehensive technical guidance and policy advice on wide range of HR matters, including (but not limited) new and continuing appointments, performance management, staff grievances, performance management, contract variations/renewals, diversity and inclusion, recruitment etc.

  • Supports and contributes to the ongoing development of HR knowledge portals; user guides; user education and ongoing process improvement

  • Manages the capture and review of client satisfaction feedback on the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the service provided against agreed standards

  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with key stakeholders and collaborates with colleagues to facilitate a seamless interface between AskHR, HR advisory, transactional, talent acquisition and specialist services

  • Monitors emerging and current HR issues and trends, identifying the implications for the ongoing provision of HR advice and support within the parameters of the HR policy framework

  • Other duties as reasonably directed

About You  

  • Degree qualifications in HR, Business or a related field with subsequent relevant experience in HR, management and/or equivalent combination of relevant training and professional experience

  • Experience providing end to end HR policy advice and administration support across a range of HR processes including recruitment, performance management, policy advice, within established policy frameworks to meet desired outcomes and results

  • Ability to apply structured problem solving approaches and good judgement to analyse, manage and resolve a diverse range of sensitive HR issues

  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders and establish and become a trusted adviser to key clients

  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills to support delivery of HR policy advice and the implementation of key HR and change initiatives

  • Experience working in professional advisory and/or service delivery functions in complex stakeholder and policy environments

What We Can Offer 

This is a full-time,  fixed-term position through to 31/12/2023 at HEW Level 6. However, multiple similar roles may become available and be appointed from this process.

The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $82,399.95 – $88,503.79 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $96,407.94 – $103,549.43 per annum.
