Position Summary

This position is a staff position which will assist in implementing admissions activities including providing information about the university and the program; interviewing and counseling prospective students; reviewing applications for admission to determine eligibility. This position will report jointly to the Director of Admissions and Director of the PA Medicine program.
Participate in the development and revisions of program mission, vision, goals, meetings, and ongoing program evaluation activities. Corresponds and reviews qualifications of potential applicants. Works collaboratively with Department Director and Faculty to develop and maintain the admission process. Assists in designing, developing and implementing admissions programs, such as group recruiting programs and the Academic Orientation Program. Interviews and counsels prospective students in order to ascertain their qualifications and provide admission guideline information. Counsels and provides guidance to students in developing educational plans in order to achieve educational goals. Serves on committees as needed. Collaborates with COM Office of Admissions staff to integrate PA Medicine admissions into existing processes. Other duties as assigned.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in admissions, counseling, public relations, student services or related area, including implementing programs and schedules, making formal presentations, and working with the public; experience with database, spreadsheet, desk top publishing and/or presentation software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; may require conversational proficiency in a foreign language.

Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and the public.
