JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Pennsylvania State University School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) is seeking an Events and Program Coordinator responsible for planning, promoting, and implementing School of EECS events and programs. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Coordinate and attend EECS Alumni board meetings, tailgates, and other Alumni-sponsored events.

Coordinate and manage EECS summer camps and Girls Who Code meetings including risk management requirements, following Penn State guidelines, monitoring and submitting criminal background checks, advertising the camps and handling registrations, and camp follow-up.

Handle the design, planning, negotiation, and facilitation of EECS events, including organizing EECS Graduation Receptions, assisting with setup of EECS Day, assisting with setup of IPAC, and other events as necessary. These events include but are not limited to receptions, retreats, dinners, networking events, executive and council meetings, camps, attending and monitoring activities, handling issues, etc.

Serve as the liaison between the EECS alumni board and the School of EECS to achieve specified goals developed between the two entities. In conjunction with the Alumni Society this position also recruits, pairs, and facilitates matching of Mentor and Mentee relationships. Performs support staff duties as directed.

Represent EECS at Grace Hopper Conference, maintain membership, and assist with student conference registrations.

Provide office coverage and back up to the Director’s Administrative Coordinator and provides staff support as needed.
This position typically requires a High School Diploma or higher plus 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful candidates must be highly motivated and exhibit a high degree of customer service and initiative. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Attention to detail and good judgement are vital requirements, as well as the ability to work within a team environment, manage multiple priorities, and demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences.
